Dr. Bálint Náfrádi

Statistician Technical Officer, ILO, Switzerland

Bálint Náfrádi is graduated as an engineering physicist at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics and holds a PhD in physics from École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne. He has extensive research experience in material science, including quantum technologies, additive manufacturing, nanotechnology, solar and nuclear energy conversion, and medical imaging modalities.

Bálint serves as Statistician technical officer of the LabAdminOSH, branch of the Governance Department of ILO, where he is mostly involved in the development of the WHO/ILO Joint Estimates of the Work-related Burden of Disease and Injury. This Joint Estimates will allow quantify the exposures to occupational risk factors and, in turn, estimate the numbers of deaths and disability adjusted life years attributable to these occupational exposures. It will enable the regular production of joint WHO/ILO estimates of occupational risk factor exposures and the work-related burden of disease and injury from global to national level, by sex and age.

SYM4 - OSH Data - at the global, national and enterprise level

When reliable OSH data is not available, policy-makers, employers, and workers lack crucial knowledge for the prevention of occupational injuries and diseases. This session will examine data gaps at the global, national and enterprise levels and will highlight new and innovative tools for collecting and using OSH data.
