Dr. Ruma Ghosh

Dr Ruma Ghosh has done her PhD in Social Medicine and Community Health. She works on questions of labour with a focus on workers’ health and safety. She has extensively worked on health issues of workers involved in the informal sector. She recently completed an empirical study on occupational safety and health of workers in the informal manufacturing sector in India.

While the contribution of GSCs to global economic growth and job opportunities is evident, their impact on the living and working conditions and the safety and health of workers raises important concerns. This session will examine innovative means that have been developed to improve working conditions and OSH in global supply chains.
