Dr. Yuka Ujita

Senior Specialist, Occupational Safety and Health, ILO, Thailand

Dr. Yuka Ujita is a member of the International Organizing Committee for the XXII World Congress on Safety and Health at Work. Dr. Ujita, Japanese national, is a medical doctor by profession and holds Ph.D in Preventive Medicine from the University of Occupational and Environmental Health, Japan (UOEH), as well as a Diploma on Occupational Health.

Her work experience in the medical field spanned over twelve years, serving for several medical facilities. As a certified occupational physician, she offered Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) services to both workers and employers in various settings.

In 2003, she joined the ILO Subregional Office for East Asia. Since then, Dr. Ujita has contributed to improvement and promotion of safety and health at work through policy and technical advice, training, knowledge sharing, awareness raising and project backstopping at both HQ and the field including the Caribbean.

The areas of her expertise include the improvement of OSH data, safety and health of migrant workers, OSH and gender, protection of hazardous child labour.

SYM4 - OSH Data - at the global, national and enterprise level

When reliable OSH data is not available, policy-makers, employers, and workers lack crucial knowledge for the prevention of occupational injuries and diseases. This session will examine data gaps at the global, national and enterprise levels and will highlight new and innovative tools for collecting and using OSH data.
